Bobby Black, 81, passed away Monday, October 10, 2016 at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle in Columbus, MS. Mr. Black was born August 1, 1935 in Choctaw County, MS to the late Arnold and Myrtle (Crafton) Black. Since 1971, He, along with his late brother Leonard Black, owned and operated Black Brothers Building Supply in Ackerman, MS. Mr. Black was a dedicated member of Enon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Ackerman, MS where he served as an Elder, youth director, and member of the choir.
Mr. Bobby was a 1954 graduate of Ackerman High School where he served as president of the student council. He was also a veteran of the United States Army. Later in life, he served as a member of the Ackerman High School School Board, economic development board for Choctaw County, 4-County Electric Power Association board, and board of Broken Wings Ministries of Choctaw County, MS. Mr. Black was also a charter member of the Ackerman Country Club and an avid supporter of Choctaw County Athletics.
Funeral Services for Mr. Black will held on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 11 AM at Enon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Ackerman, MS. Rev. Jerry Lawson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Enon Cemetery in Ackerman, MS. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 from 5PM til 8PM at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS. Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman, MS is in charge of all arrangements.
Mr. Black is survived by his wife: Ruth (Love) Black of Ackerman, MS; sons, Sheldon Black (Missy) of Gulfport, MS, and Robert Black (Judy) of Ackerman, MS; and daughter, Renae Aurell (Hal) of Ackerman, MS. He is also survived by eight grandchildren. Mr. Black was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and four sisters.
