Brenda Faye Thompson Staszefski, born on March 5, 1957 to Everette Thompson and Inez (Cagle) Thompson Fulce, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on March 19, 2026. She passed peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family, leaving behind a legacy of faith, love, and devotion that will continue through the generations she cherished so deeply. Brenda was a graduate of Mississippi State University and was an elementary school teacher for 25 years.
Brenda was the loving and devoted wife of Reverend John Staszefski, with whom she shared 53 wonderful years of marriage. Their life together was a testimony of commitment, faith, and enduring love. She was a proud and caring mother to her daughter, Melody (Andy) Guy, and her son, John Staszefski III (Cindy). Brenda’s greatest joy was her family, and she treasured every moment spent with her many beloved grandchildren, Noah Guy, Mikayla Whitman (Christian), Jonah Guy, Savannah Staszefski, Hannah Guy, Jenna Staszefski, and her precious great-granddaughter, Emery Whitman. She is also survived by her sister, Nina Tyler.
Brenda was known by all who met her as a kind, compassionate, and faithful Christian woman. Her life reflected the love of Christ through her generosity, gentle spirit, and care for others. She was always ready with a warm smile, a helping hand, and a prayer for anyone in need. Her faith was the foundation of her life, guiding how she loved her family and served those around her. She had a passion for Operation Christmas Child and loved collecting and filling shoeboxes for kids throughout the world.
Her family finds comfort in the words of Scripture that reflect the life she lived. In Proverbs 31:28 it says, “Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her.” Brenda truly embodied the heart of a virtuous woman whose love and dedication to her family will never be forgotten.
Another verse that speaks to Brenda’s faithful life is found in 2 Timothy 4:7, “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.” She remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life and leaves behind a powerful example for her children and grandchildren to follow.
While her passing brings sorrow, her family takes comfort in the wisdom of Ecclesiastes 7:1: “A good name is better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one's birth.” For those who have lived faithfully, the day they enter eternal life with the Lord is a day of peace and victory. Brenda lived such a life, and her faith assures those who loved her that she is now resting in the presence of the Lord.
Her loved ones also cling to the promise of John 14:2–3, where Jesus said, “In my Father’s house are many mansions… I go to prepare a place for you… that where I am, there ye may be also.” It is this promise that gives comfort to all who mourn her passing.
Brenda will be deeply missed by her loving husband, her children, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, extended family, and the many friends whose lives she touched through her kindness, prayers, and unwavering faith. Though her earthly life has ended, the love she shared and the faith she lived will continue to shine through those who knew and loved her.
