Bruce Wade Mcgee

Bruce Wade McGee of Meridian died after a long battle with cancer Sept. 20, 2020. He passed peacefully at his sister's home in McCool. He was 61.
He was born August 16, 1959 at Choctaw County Hospital in Ackerman, the only son of Wilbur "Billy" and Linda Pee McGee.
A graduate of Weir High School, he studied Building and Construction at Holmes Junior College and Mississippi College. Bruce was a vital member of each school's football team. He was a lifelong builder, a hard worker who distinguished himself with an impressive career in home construction, and doing work for charitable organizations. He was an inventor, tinkerer, and thinker, and and was awarded a patent for his 'ditcher,' used for digging construction footers, among other uses. He loved history and architecture, old tractors and machinery, antiques, and historical books. He enjoyed reading, travel and helping others.
Bruce was a Baptist, holding membership first at Beulah Baptist Church. As an adult he has been associated with several congregations in his places of residence, including First Baptist Church of Meridian, where he attended faithfully. His Christian faith remained the core of his life to the end. His character and integrity in business and in his personal life were unmatched. He was considered "son" and "brother" by many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur McGee; and his mother, Linda. He is survived by four sisters: Vicky (Ronnie) Newman of Greenback, TN; Judy (David) Campbell of Cocoa, FL; Debra (Hayes Jr.) Wade of McCool, and Brenda (Ken) Smith of Hernando; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as many longtime friends.
Funeral services will take place Tuesday, Sept. 22 at 2:30 p.m. at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery Pavilion. Coleman's Funeral Home in Ackerman will be presiding. Dr. Leon Ballard will be officiating.
