Caitlin Briana Busby

Jul 15, 1998 — Aug 12, 2026

Starkville, MS

Caitlin Briana Busby, 28, of Starkville, Mississippi, died on August 12, 2026, at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson after a short but intense battle with ovarian cancer.

Caitlin was born on July 15, 1998, at Fort Knox, Kentucky. She was a sassy, quick-witted old soul—creative, business-minded, and naturally gifted at connecting people.

Caitlin was homeschooled through Highgrove Academy. She earned an Associate of Arts degree from Southwest Mississippi Community College while living with her grandparents and later attended Mississippi State University, where she was working toward a degree in sociology.

She loved children deeply. To the children in her care at the Mississippi State University Child Development Center, she was “Miss KK,” and she dreamed of one day owning her own daycare. She cherished being “Aunt KK” to her niece, Isabel Johnie, and eagerly anticipated all the nieces and nephews she expected from her beloved siblings.

Caitlin crocheted both the useful and the delightfully quirky. She made jewelry and loved beautiful things, bringing creativity and personality to whatever passed through her hands.

As her family listened together to Lectio 365’s Christ My Home, Caitlin took her final breath just as the reader said, “Amen.”

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charles R. (Bob) Power and Johnie Beauchamp Power.

She is survived by her parents, Barry and Anissa (Power) Busby; her brothers, Gavin (Fabi), Ian (Carys), Caedmon, and Tristan; her sister, Gillian; her niece, Isabel Johnie; and her paternal grandparents, Martha Jane Busby and Frank David Busby Jr. She is also survived by her boyfriend, Skylar Roberson of Starkville, and his wonderful family.

A celebration of Caitlin’s life will be held Friday, August 14, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Ackerman Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. and continue until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites memorial gifts supporting Lectio 365, the Order of the Mustard Seed, and 24-7 Prayer at https://lectio365.com/give-app/
