Charles P. Smith

Charles P. Smith, 89, a retired diesel mechanic, passed away Monday October 21, 2013 at the North MS Medical Center in Tupelo, MS. Mr. Smith was born November 13, 1923 in Sturgis, MS. He was an avid steel guitar player who loved music, hunting, and who worked many years at the Sturgis Lumber Company and for Oktibbeha County.

Funeral Services for Mr. Smith will be held on Wednesday October 23, 2013 at 2PM at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery near Bradley, MS. Rev. Donnie Davis will officiate. Visitation will be held Wednesday October 23, 2013 one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman, MS is in charge of all arrangements.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his wife, Phronia (Starnes) Smith, a brother, Herbert "Chuck" Smith, and his parents, Worley T. and Lucille (Heflin) Smith. He is survived by his son Bobby Smith and wife Diane of Oxford, GA, his daughter Sheila Oswalt and husband Chris of Houston, MS, five grandchildren, and three great grandchidren
