Christina Lyn Mcdaniel

June 28, 1968 — September 2, 2021

Christina McDaniel, 53, daughter of Thomas and Betty Hazlett, wife of Christopher McDaniel, mother of Morgan and Megan McDaniel, passed away as the result of a year-long battle of stage IV carcinosarcoma on September 2, 2021 at her home in Chillicothe, Illinois.

Christina was born on June 28, 1968 in Wauseon, Ohio. She spent her childhood in Ohio before moving to Kosciusko, Mississippi, where she met her husband and the love of her life. They knew each other for only 3 months before getting engaged at age 19, and they were married for 33 years. In their early 30s, Christina and her husband Christopher adopted their two daughters, Morgan and Megan.

Christina was incredibly unselfish and devoted her life to Jesus and bettering the education system in America. She loved working with youth and future teachers, and spent her professional career working at various high schools, as well as Mississippi State and Bradley University. Her kindness and grace impacted everyone that she met, almost never failing to leave a lasting impact. She kept in touch with many former students who continue to tell our family the impact she made in their lives.

Those who mourn Christina are her husband Christopher of Chillicothe, IL; daughters Morgan and Megan of Chillicothe, IL; mother Betty Hazlett of Tellico Plains, TN; brothers Josh and Dustin Hazlett of Kosciusko and Clinton, MS; mother and father in law Peggy and Perry McDaniel of Kosciusko, MS; and so many more countless people who were close with her.

The visitation will be held at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS on Monday, September 6 from 5pm to 8pm. The funeral will be held at Blythe Creek Baptist Church in Mathiston, MS on Tuesday, September 7 at 10am.
