Daniel Douglas Wise, Sr. entered into the joyful presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, October 18, 2025. Born on November 26, 1939, to Guy Glendon Wise and Mary Ballard Wise, he spent most of his life in and around Ackerman, Mississippi, where he was a well-loved and respected member of the community.
A proud graduate of Ackerman High School’s Class of 1957, Daniel married the love of his life, Brenda Joyce McClure, in 1959. Earlier this year, they celebrated 66 wonderful years of marriage.
Mr. Wise served his country as a radio and telephone operator in the National Guard, was a dedicated Freemason, and retired from a long and accomplished career as a tool and die maker. A faithful member of Concord Baptist Church, he served as both deacon and Sunday School teacher.
He loved spending time with his family and could often be found with a fishing pole in hand at a local pond or lake. He will be remembered for his kind demeanor, his sly smile, and his ever-ready funny stories—but most of all, for his steadfast faith, which has now become sight.
He was preceded in death by his parents Guy and Mary Wise; his daughter, Lynn Wise; his grandson, Kevin Nick; and his brothers, James, Jerry, and David. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Wise; his children Gwyn Nick (Ken) and Daniel Douglas Wise, Jr. (Jackie); grandchildren Deanna Nick, Kayla Nick, Guy Wise (Felicia), and Juliana Morlino (Daniel); great-grandchildren, Eliza, Jak, and Lydia Wise; and sisters, Nell Young and Carolyn McCuiston.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites friends to honor his memory through memorials to Concord Baptist Church in Ackerman, Mississippi.
