David McKnight

David L. McKnight passed away Sunday, July 9, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital Golden Triangle in Columbus, MS.  David was born September 15, 1943, in Ackerman, MS, to Orville and Claudine (Garner) McKnight. He was 79 years old and a member of Enon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Ackerman, MS. After graduating from Mississippi State in 1965, David began work at Ingalls Ship Building in Pascagoula, MS where he worked as a Piping Systems Designer. Through the years he worked in design and construction on almost any kind of plant and manufacturing facility imaginable. After retiring he did part time contract work, but he always made time in between jobs to enjoy family and renovate old houses, which was another favorite past time.

Memorial services for David will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2023, 4:00 p.m., at Enon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Ackerman, MS, with Rev. Robin Sutphen and Rev. Jerry Lawson.

David is survived by his wife, Vicki Rae (Collins) McKnight of Ackerman, MS; 1 daughter, Nissa (Robin) Sutphen of Eagan, MN;  1 son, Michael McKnight of Lake Pontchartrain, LA;  2 sisters, Merlin Smith of Porter, TX, and Sharon Stevens of Ackerman, MS; 1 brother-in-law, Frank Black of Ackerman, MS;  and 4 grandchildren, Dylan McKnight, Eleanora Sutphen, Maggie Sutphen, and Hattie Sutphen.

David is preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister, Linda Black.
