Desiree Black Stacy went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 surrounded by her family. She was born in Choctaw County on October 29, 1915, and lived there her entire life. She worked at Irwin Manufacturing Company for several years but spent most of her time as a wife and mother. She enjoyed painting, sewing, cooking, gardening, and most of all quilting (She pieced and quilted approximately 600 quilts in her lifetime). Mamaw Stacy loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her church family, and her many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilbert Stacy; parents, J.M. and Mary Vaughn Black; infant son, Donald Wayne; and sister, Azalee Black McIntire. She is survived by three sons: Terry Stacy (Cheryl) of Ackerman, James Durward Stacy (Frances) of New Albany, and Barry Stacy of Springfield, Missouri; five grandchildren: Paula Norman (Mark) of Decatur, Penny Hagan (Jeff) of Brandon, Patience Morrow (Nich) of Ackerman, Randy Stacy (Donna), and Jeff Stacy (Rose) of New Albany; nine great grandchildren: Anna and Grant Norman, Alex and Sawyer Hagan, Addie Stacy, Matthew and Jonathan Stacy, and Josh and Heather Stacy.
Services were at Bethlehem Baptist Church at 3:00 P. M. on January 25, 2014 with visitation preceding the service. Reverend Bill Taylor officiated the service, and Barry Stacy and C.D. Hagan provided special music. Graveside services were at Antioch Methodist Church Cemetery.
