Donald Wade “Pete” Thomas

Donald Wade “Pete” Thomas, of Sturgis, MS, passed away on Friday, June 14, 2024, at his residence in Sturgis, MS. Pete was born on January 12, 1927 in Oktibbeha County, MS to Willard Barron Thomas, Sr. and Essie Mae (Pentecost) Thomas. He was 97 years old. Pete was a U.S. Army Veteran of the 101st Airborne Division. He was also a construction worker, and a member of Sturgis Presbyterian Church in Sturgis, MS.

Graveside services will be held at Sturgis Cemetery in Sturgis, MS on Monday, June 17, 2024 at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at Sturgis Cemetery in Sturgis, MS. Visitation will be held prior to service time from 12:30 PM – 1:30 PM at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS. 

 Pete is survived by his daughter, Alice (Leon) Stribling of Sturgis, MS. He is also survived by 2 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard Barron Thomas, Sr. and Essie Mae (Pentecost) Thomas, his wife, Elsie Evelyn (Tooles) Thomas, 3 sisters, and 1 brother.
