Gaylon M. Raines, Sr. of Ackerman, MS, passed away onMonday, February 3, 2025, at Choctaw Regional Medical Center in Ackerman, MS. Gaylon was born on September 11, 1947, in Choctaw County, MS, to Lois and Nova(Wood) Raines. He was 77 years old and was a Retired Logger. 

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time,at Coleman Funeral Home, beginning at 12:00 PM. Burial will follow at Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery near Mathiston, MS.

Gaylon is survived by his wife, Nancy (Kelly) Raines; 1 son, Gaylon M. Raines, Jr. (Martha) of Weir, MS; and 2 sisters, Gayra Williams of Mathiston, MS, and Shiann Bennett of Starkville, MS. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Don Johnson (Erin), Colton Raines, Kinley Raines (Logan Miller), Dorothy Bush (Canden), Jessie Dempsey, and Jack Dempsey; and 2 great-grandchildren, Sallie Johnson and Seanix Bush.

Gaylon is preceded in death by his parents, Lois and Nova (Wood) Raines; 2 brothers, Dick Raines and Garland Raines; and 1 sister, Nannie McPherson.
