Gayra W. Williams

Gayra W. (Raines) Williams of Ackerman, MS, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Choctaw Regional Nursing & Rehab Center in Ackerman, MS. Gayra was born on September 20, 1942, in Choctaw County, MS, to Lois and Nova (Wood) Raines. She was 83 years old. Gayra was a homemaker and a member of Maben First Baptist Church in Maben, MS.

Gayra is survived by 2 sons, Mike Williams (Kerry), of Mathiston, MS, and Jim Williams (Katherine), of Cottageville, SC; her daughter, Mary Bruce (Todd), of Ackerman, MS; and her sister, Shiann Bennett, of Starkville, MS. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

Gayra is preceded in death by her husband, Alf Williams; her son, Malcolm Williams; her parents, Lois and Nova (Wood) Raines; 3 brothers, Garland Raines, Gaylon Raines, and Dick Raines; and a sister, Nannie McPherson.
