George Frederick “Fred” Hood

George Frederick “Fred” Hood of Ackerman, MS, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2025, at his residence in Ackerman, MS. Fred was born on June 24, 1943, in Fentress, MS, to Robert Doyle and Mattie Marion (Williams) Hood. He was 81 years old. Fred was a carpenter. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of Old Lebanon Presbyterian Church near Ackerman, MS.

Funeral services will be held at Old Lebanon Presbyterian Church near Ackerman, MS on Sunday, February 16, 2025at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow at Old Lebanon Cemetery near Ackerman, MS. Visitation will be held prior to service time from 1:00 AM – 3:00 PM at Old Lebanon Presbyterian Church near Ackerman, MS. 

Fred is survived by his wife, Betty (Wilson) Hood of Ackerman, MS, and 3 children. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Doyle and Mattie Marion (Williams) Hood and his 9 siblings.
