Several of those friends spent the night on a regular basis. Sewing, cooking, and extending hospitality were truly her gifts and she used those to the best of her ability. The door was always open and she touched the lives of many during this time.

She was an active member of Weir Baptist Church and taught preschool Sunday School for all the years her children were at home, and she was also a member of the choir during this time. After her children, she spent time working as a substitute teacher for Weir School. In the later years of her life, she enjoyed spending time with her two granddaughters, Olivia and Ashley Moore. She loved having them spend the night, and she always had chicken and dumplings ready for them.
