Glendell “Bob” Jackson of Sturgis, MS, passed away peacefully while surrounded by loved ones, on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at his residence in Sturgis, MS. He was born on January 15, 1931, in Sturgis, Mississippi, to Burnice and Velma (Crowson) Jackson and was 94 years old.
Bob, as he was affectionately known by family and friends, was a proud veteran, hardworking entrepreneur, and devoted family man. He served 10 years in the U.S. Air Force as a medic, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant in Medical Training. His service took him overseas to Japan and England where he cared for fellow servicemen with skill and dedication. After his military career, Bob returned home and embraced a life of hard work. He was a dairy farmer, the owner of Jackson’s Grocery and Service Station, and later an entrepreneur in landscaping and wood splitting. No matter the job, Bob gave it his all. He loved the outdoors….catfishing, squirrel and turkey hunting, and gardening were among his favorite pastimes. But his greatest joy came from time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sharing stories, laughter, and love. Bob will be remembered for his strength, humility, and unwavering dedication to family, faith, and country. He leaves behind a legacy built on service, kindness, and a life well lived.
Bob is survived by 3 sons, Mike (Angela) Jackson of Sturgis, MS, Kevin (Janice) Mason of Seattle, Washington, and Ed Jackson of Seattle, Washington; 2 daughters, Carolyn Case of San Tan Valley, Arizona, and Aime Jones of Columbus, MS; and 1 sister, Janice Robbins of Hattiesburg, MS.
