Hampton Harford Mullen, formerly of the Sapa Community in Webster County, MS, passed away on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at the Choctaw Regional Medical Center in Ackerman, MS. He was 84 years old.
Harford was born on November 29, 1940, in Leflore County, MS, to Kenchen Edgar “K.E.” and Martha Lou (Gregg) Mullen. He was born prematurely, weighing between two and three pounds, and was given very little chance to survive, but Bigmomma, Bigdaddy, Aunt Winnie, and the rest of the family had enough love, faith, grit, and determination to take on the challenge. They raised Harford into a fine strapping young man.
Harford was full of life and love. He especially loved to hang out and “entertain” his family. Whether you knew him as Hampton, Slick, Hollywood, Elvis, or Uncle… you always knew you were in for a good time with Harford. Harford is survived by a brother, Twyman Mullen (Peggy) of Nacogdoches, TX; a sister, Carolyn Faye Phillips (Bobby) of West Monroe, LA; and over 100 nieces and nephews who loved him dearly and have countless memories and stories of fun times with him. We will truly miss Harford, and we are grateful that he was a part of our lives.
Harford was preceded in death by his parents, Kenchen Edgar “K.E.” and Martha Lou (Gregg) Mullen; 4 brothers, Karl Mullen, Marzene “Moon” Mullen, Kelton Mullen, and Early Mullen; and 3 sisters, Lucille Shaefer, Aragene Gammill and Bonita Roberts.
