Howard Earl Carpenter, 88, died August 23, 2015. He was born May 16, 1927 to the late Homer Judson and Nora Estelle Morman Carpenter in Tallahatchie County, Mississippi. He and his wife Ezma Frazier Carpenter were married 69 years and have four children: Linda Carpenter, Elaine (Craig) Vechorik, Earl (Lisa) Carpenter, and Roy Carpenter, all of Sturgis, MS. She is also survived by sisters, Gladys (Sonny) Chamblee of Grenada, Mississippi and Lucile Harmon of Theodore, Alabama, five grandchildren, and nine great grandchildren. A brother, Coye Carpenter of Conyers, Georgia preceded him in death.
Mr. Carpenter served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a mason and a member of Sturgis Baptist Church. He moved his family to Sturgis in 1960 where he had his own business for 30 years. He loved Country music and was a talented wood carver. Mr. Carpenter requested cremation. Visitation will be 9AM til 11AM at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, with a service following at 11AM on Tuesday August 25, 2015. Rev. Russell Mord will officiate.
