Jacquelyn “Jackie” Lawson, 86, recently of French Camp, MS passed away early Oct. 15, 2025 at home from Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born in Melrose Park Illinois, Feb. 18, 1939, the first daughter of Perry and Clytha Young of Melrose Park. After graduating from East Leyden High School, Franklin Park, IL, in 1957, she attended Illinois Normal school (now Illinois State) in Bloomington, IL.

Jackie met her future husband, Richard Lawson, during a softball game in which Richard ran into her and knocked her to the ground – love at first collision! The two were married November 16, 1963, and went on to have two children, Kerry and Jeff. This would eventually lead to four grandchildren.

Her professional career was that of a secretary, working at Her alma mater, East Leyden High, then Medinah Baptist Church, Medinah, IL, and Calvary Baptist Church in Schaumburg, IL.

Jackie enjoyed tennis, baseball, and basketball, as well as several trips to Disney World and making two complete trips on Route 66!

She is survived by daughter Kerry (Mike) and son Jeff (Vanessa) as well as four grandchildren – Jacob, Alec, Noah, and Abby.

Jackie was preceded in death by both parents, husband Richard, and sister Cathy.

The family will hold a memorial service at Jubilee Bible Church, Medinah, IL, Thursday, November 20, 2025.
