James Edward “Red” Cornett, 79, passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at home surrounded by his family. Red was born on January 6, 1945, in Kosciusko and grew up in the Panhandle Community of Choctaw County. He graduated from Weir High School in 1963. In 2002, Red retired from Tennessee Valley Authority where he was a lineman for twenty years. An electrician by trade, Red was known for his willingness to help friends and families with electrical projects at their homes and businesses.
A lifelong resident, Red loved Choctaw County deeply. The only things he loved more were his family and the Lord. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and gardener. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with friends and working around his home in Fentress.
