James Garland Dempsey

James Garland Dempsey passed away Sunday, December 1, 2019, at Choctaw County Nursing Center, in Ackerman, MS. He was 86 years old. Mr. Dempsey was born February 23, 1933, in Winston County, MS, to Young P. and Bessie Mae(Romedy) Dempsey.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, 2:00 p.m., at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS, with Rev. Steve Wright officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. till service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Harmony Cemetery near Ethel, MS.

Mr. Dempsey is survived by 1 daughter, Karen Dickerson(Charles) of Kosciusko, MS, 1 sister, Lila Chandler of Weir, MS, 3 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mr. Dempsey was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, Billy Dempsey, 1 daughter, Kathy Mayo, 1 brother, Paul Dempsey, 1 sister, Bonnie Sue Craig, and 1 great-grandchild.
