James Marvin Oswalt, 88, former salesman and a retired veteran of the US Navy, passed away Saturday October 10, 2015 at his home in Ackerman, MS. Mr. Oswalt was born December 18, 1926. As a veteran of the United States Navy, he served in World War II. Mr. Oswalt was a member of Enon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Ackerman, MS. He also served numerous years on the Board of Aldermen and as Mayor Pro-Tem for the Town of Ackerman.
Funeral Services for Mr. Oswalt will be held on Tuesday October 13, 2015 at 11AM at Enon Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Ackerman, MS. Interment will follow in the Enon cemetery. Rev. Jerry Lawson and Rev. Buddy Smith will officiate the service. Visitation will be held Monday October 12, 2015 from 5PM until 8PM at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS. Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman, MS is in charge of all funeral arrangements.
Mr. Oswalt was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Will (Pinnix) Oswalt, a grandson, Daniel James Oswalt, two sisters, Willo Dean Braswell and Helen Hemphill, and his parents, Dell and Lovie Oswalt. He is survived by his sons, Butch Oswalt (Judy) of Ackerman, MS, and Pinnix Oswalt of Biloxi, MS, a daughter, Debbie Taylor (Bill) of Weir, MS, five grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by his dear loving friend and travel companion, Jean Vanlandingham of Ackerman, MS.
