James Ronald “Ronnie” Reid, of Ackerman, MS, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at his residence in Ackerman, MS. Ronnie was born on September 6, 1951, in Louisville, MS, to James Rupert and Christine (Taylor) Reid. He was 74 years old. Ronnie was a retired Forester for the MS Forestry Commission, long time City Park Commissioner for Ackerman, MS, and a member of Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church near McCool, MS. He was also a retired Staff Sergeant for the National Guard. Ronnie was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Desert Storm.
Funeral services will be held at Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church near McCool, MS on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 3:00 PM. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery near McCool, MS. Visitation will be held prior to service timeon Friday, January 30, 2026 from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS.
Ronnie is survived by his 3 daughters, Andrea Eaves of Sturgis, MS, Holli Mitchell of Sherman, MS, and Allison Riley (Vernon) of Starkville, MS; his brother, Jimmy Reid of Philadelphia, MS. He is also survived by his 7 grandchildren, Matt Moss (Whitney) of Sturgis, MS, Jenni Smith (Ben) of Hattiesburg, MS, Brianne Byrd (Brandon) of Sherman, MS, Cody Landrum (Nikkie) of Ackerman, MS, Miracle Riley of Starkville, MS, Marleigh Oswalt of Sturgis, MS, and Abbi Oswalt of Jacksonville, FL; and 11 great-grandchildren with one on the way.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby (Gordon) Reid; a grandson, Jaylin Reid; his parents, James Rupert and Christine (Taylor) Reid; and 3 siblings, Susan Reid Lepard, Peggy Reid Miller, and Mike Reid.
Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Mt. Zion Presbyterian Church.
