Jerry D. Ferguson, Sr., a farm manager for Mississippi State University, passed away
Sunday April 7, 2013 at his home near Sturgis, MS. Mr. Ferguson was born April 14,
1944 in Sunflower County. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served
in Vietnam and Iraq. He attended Morgan Chapel Baptist Church near Sturgis, MS.
Funeral Services for Mr. Ferguson will be held on Wednesday April 10, 2013 at 10AM
at Morgan Chapel Baptist Church near Sturgis. Interment will follow in the church
cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday April 9, 2013 from 5PM until 8PM at Coleman
Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at
Morgan Chapel Baptist Church. Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman, MS is in charge
of all arrangements.
Mr. Ferguson was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Myrtle Edwards Ferguson,
a brother, R.M. Ferguson, and a sister, Jewel Lang. He is survived by his wife, Jean
(Butler) Ferguson of Sturgis, MS, a son, Jerry Ferguson, Jr. and wife Monica of Newport
News, VA, a daughter, Angie Forrester and her husband Bubba of Starkville, MS, three
brothers, J.E. Ferguson of Illinois, John Ferguson of Corinth, MS, and Henry Ferguson of
Arcola, MS, and three sisters, Evelyn Reimen of Saltillo, MS, Zay White of Chalmette,
LA, and Eva Blankenship of Chalmette, LA. He is also survived by six grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Morgan Chapel Baptist
