Jewell D. Fondren

Jewell Dean Mayo Fondren was born July 14, 1954, to Phillip Dee and Mary Jewell Keen Mayo at the Winston General Hospital in Louisville, Mississippi. She was raised in the High Point community. Jewell attended school in Louisville, Mississippi, and graduated in 1972.

In 1973, she met and married the love of her life, Jesse Harold Fondren. They were blessed with one daughter, Michelle, in 1976. She was a second mother to many of Michelle’s friends and to her nieces and nephews.

Jewell passed away at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo on Sunday morning, July 26, 2026. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Harold Fondren, her parents, Phillip Dee and Mary Jewell Mayo Fondren, and her sister, Kay Mayo Black.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Fondren Boggan (Adam), of Ackerman, MS; 2 grandchildren, Alyssa Mosley (Call) of Robertsdale, AL, and Matthew Pritchett of Eupora, MS; 3 great-grandchildren, Kyler Thomas, Henleigh Kate, and Hartlee Ann Mosley, all of Robertsdale, AL; her brothers, Garry Mayo (Rachel), Terry Mayo (Shirley), Terrell Mayo, and Keeny “Popeye” Mayo (Becky), and one sister, Marie Livingston, all of Louisville, MS, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at South Union Methodist Church near Ackerman, MS, with Bro. Buddy Smith officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Burial will be at South Union Cemetery nearAckerman, MS.
