Judy Carol Irving Melton passed away peacefully at her home on January 17, 2022, after a long, rewarding, and satisfying life. Judy was 74 years old.
Born on August 25, 1947, Judy was the daughter of Davis and Myrtle Irving of Weir, Mississippi. She is survived by her husband of forty years, Daniel Wayne Melton of Weir, Mississippi, daughter Lindsey Maxcy, her husband Preston Maxcy, and grandson Jack Benjamin Maxcy of Nashville, Tn. Other survivors include sister, Joani Webster and husband Wayne of Harrah, Ok.; nephews Ryan Irving and wife Whitney, sons Nelson and Shep of Madison, Ms.; Drew Webster of Oklahoma City, Ok. and brother-in-law Mike Melton and wife Diane of Brandon, Ms. Judy was preceded in death by her parents Myrtle and Davis Irving and brother Jimmy Irving.
Judy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Most of all she cherished being " Ju Ju" to grandson Jack. She was a faithful member of the Ackerman Baptist Church, loved working in her yard and reading. Judy had a great sense of humor and always put others first.
Judy was an honor graduate of Weir High School. She attended Holmes Community College and Delta State University. Judy was a retired state employee, working with the Mississippi Division of Plant Industry and the Longest Student Heath Center at MSU. She also worked for years in the Weir School District.
Services for Judy will be held on January 19, 2022 at Ackerman Baptist Church with Reverend Danny Irvin officiating. She will be laid to rest alongside her cherished mother- in- law Ann Melton in the Enon Cemetery in Ackerman, Ms.
Memorials may be made to the Ackerman Baptist Church HVAC Fund.
