Kenneth Johns Utley

Kenneth Utley, age 83, of Flowood, MS, went home to his Lord on Thursday, July 24th. He was born to Lawrence and Elizabeth Utley of Nashville, TN, where he spent his early years and graduated from Litton High School.

He received his Bachelor of Arts from William Jennings Bryan College in Dayton, TN, where he met and married Lynette Rowe. He attended Columbia Bible College in Columbia, SC, and received his Master of Divinity from Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, MS.

For 43 years, he worked at French Camp Academy in French Camp, MS as a teacher, a boys’ houseparent for 18 years, and director of the FCA horse program. He preached at various churches over the years, including French Camp Presbyterian and Shongolo Presbyterian in Vaiden, MS.

After retirement from FCA, he and his wife moved to Madison, MS and became members of Pear Orchard Presbyterian Church in Ridgeland, MS.

He is survived by his wife Lynette Utley of 62 years of marriage; his daughter, Brenda Alvis (Bill) of Madison, MS; his son, Brian Utley (Jessica) of Ackerman, MS; his three granddaughters: Laurie Aultman (Matthew), Brooke Alvis, and Grace Alvis; his three grandsons: Brice Utley (Reese), Kanden Utley (Paige), and Cooper Utley; his great grandchildren: Reid and Amelia Aultman; and his brother Lawrence William Utley (Rose Marie) of Lincoln, Nebraska. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence William Utley and Elizabeth Johns Utley, sisters, Jeanne Werner of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Carolyn Utley of Denver, Colorado.

Visitation will be at the French Camp Presbyterian Church, French Camp, MS, on Saturday, August 2nd at 1pm followed by the funeral at 3pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to French Camp Academy or Samaritan’s Purse.
