Lila Mae (Perry) King, 86, was born on September 28, 1933 in Choctaw County, Mississippi. She was raised by Jim and Bessie (Weaver) Perry, and attended school at Chester Schoolhouse. She married C.B. (Red) King of Ackerman on July 24,1949, and worked at Ackerman Shirt Factory until deciding to stay at home to care for her 4 children, then later her grandchildren. Later she cared for her mother-in-law, her mother, and 2 brothers during their illnesses. She always enjoyed traveling with her family, painting, making ceramic dolls, quilting, sewing, cooking and reading. She also loved participating in WMU and Keenagers, Sunday School class and other activities at Chester Baptist Church, where she was a member.
Mrs. King is joined in heaven by her loving husband of 64 years, C.B. (Red) King of Ackerman, two sons, Frank King of Laurel, MS and Rusty King of Ackerman, as well as a great grandson, Dalton Peacock of Stringer, MS. She leaves behind one son, Mike (Ann) King, one daughter Pam (Woody) Simpson, and son-in-law, David Ellington, all of Ackerman, MS. Mamma King will also be missed by her seven grandchildren: Stacee (Paul) Giers of Del Ray Beach, FL, Bridgette (Dale) Peacock of Stringer, MS, Suzanne (Levi) Crider of Ackerman, MS, Sydney (Brian) Pettit of Carriere, MS, Quint (Summer) King of Ackerman, MS, Cassidy Simpson of Ackerman, MS, and Jim (Robin) King of Keaau, HI, along with thirteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter, who is blessed to be named Lila. Memorials can be made in Mrs. King's name to South Union Cemetery Fund, 151 Lebanon Road, Ackerman, MS or a charity of your choice.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 27 with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. and the service beginning at 11:00 at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman with Rev. Rob Faulk officiating. Coleman Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
