Margaret Jean Bruce Upchurch, age 82, on November 30, 2015 at University of Mississippi Medical Center ICU went home to be with Jesus.
Jean was the oldest of six children, born to W. R. and Bessie Bruce. She was born April 1, 1933 in Leflore County, MS. She graduated from Humphreys High School in Itta Bena, MS in 1951. On November 17, 1953 she married James Edward Upchurch. She was an active member of Chester Baptist Church for more than forty years. She is survived by one daughter, Angie Moncrief (Bob) of Ackerman, two sons Jimmy Upchurch (Phanell) of Ackerman, and Butch Upchurch (Debbie) of Madison; her seven beloved grandchildren, Anna Eldridge (David), Nathan Moncrief (Kelsey), Emily Moncrief, Will Upchurch, Jeanna Upchurch, Katie Ann Upchurch, and Laurie Upchurch; her three great grandchildren Walker Eldridge, Luke Eldridge and Brody Moncrief; four sisters, Joan Burton (Prentiss), Carolyn Higginbotham (Kit), Beverly Hackleman (Sammy), Gail McGlawn (Henry), and one brother Bob Bruce (Charlene).
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years and her parents.
Jean, known as "Meme" by her loved ones, exemplified hard work and always put her family first. She was in demand as a professional seamstress. She taught by example throughout her life by loving and serving others. She showed her family and friends to enjoy every moment. She faithfully followed Him and gave that legacy of faith to her children and her husband.
We celebrate her reunion with her Savior and her husband.
