Martha Elaine York Robinson Brooks passed away peacefully at her home near Mathiston, MS on June 7, 2025, surrounded by her children.

Martha was born August 24, 1940 to Lonnie York and Julie Idell (Conner) York in Hale County Alabama.

Martha grew up on a farm in Alabama. As a young girl, she picked cotton and worked on her family’s farm. She left home at age 14 to become a military wife. Martha married Charlie Robinson, but was widowed five years later as the result of a car accident by a drunk driver.

In 1963, Martha married Allen Madison Brooks and moved to the Blythe Creek community in Choctaw County, MS. She raised 3 children and was a homemaker. Martha loved working outdoors. She tended her flowers and raised 2 large gardens, with the help of her children. She also loved mowing the grass and tending the yard. And, she made the very best tea cakes and fried apple pies.

Martha also cared for her mother-in-law Lydia Brooks) in her home for approximately 4 years until her death in 2004. Martha was a member of Blythe Creek Baptist Church.

Unfortunately, the triple negative breast cancer was unbeatable.

She is survived by two daughters: Regina Brooks Snow (Mathiston) Teresa Brooks(Starkville ) and one son Allen Keith Brooks(Mathiston); Grandchildren Heather Snow Young and Joshua Bailey Snow; two great grandchildren Xavier Young and Isobelle Young; two sisters, Betty Sue York Crowder (Jim) and Dale York Flanigan (John) and one brother Wesley A.
