Mary Smith Odom

Mary Smith Odom, 85, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Brooklyn Hall Personal Care Home in Mathiston, MS. Mary was a retired cashier for Foodmax in Starkville, MS. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Bradley, MS.

Mary’s passion was helping other people.

Mary is survived by her god-daughter Robin (Douglas) Briones; 2 god-grandchildren, Nicole (Chris) Coggins of Sturgis, MS, and John Michael Briones of Beaverton, OR; 2 god-great granddaughters, Attleigh and Annalyn Coggins of Sturgis, MS; she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Odom; parents, Zellie L. Smith, and Mary Emma Ashmore Smith. She was also preceded by numerous brothers and sisters.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, January 4, 2026, 2:00 p.m., at Wake Forest Baptist Church Cemetery in Sturgis, MS. There will be no visitation. Coleman Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
