Maxie Lajune Lollar (aka Daddy, Paw, PapPaw, Grandpa, Booner & Mr. Junior) was born August 2, 1931, in Weir, Mississippi, and passed away peacefully at his home in Choctaw County, October 26, 2024, at the age of 93,surrounded by his children. He is preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Oma Lee Green Lollar; his parents, Hughie Ambrose Lollar and Ida Pearl Rabun Lollar; son, David Lee Lollar; daughter, Margaret Ann Lollar Burdine; all of Weir, MS, and grandson, Christopher Jay Lollar of Albany, GA.
He is survived by his sons, Maxie Joe Lollar (Jimmie Sue) and Hughie Allen Lollar, both of Weir, MS; daughters Marilyn Lollar Martin (Rufus) of Vardaman, MS, and Connie Faye Prince (Brett) of White Oak, GA; daughter-in-law Virginia (Jenny) Lollar; 14 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and two “very” special caregivers.
He worked at Mississippi Products and Jitney Jungle in Jackson, MS, for several years and at the Choctaw County Steel Mill for approximately ten years. He also owned his own business as a logger for roughly thirty years. He always set high standards and showed his children daily what a good, hard, honest life looked like.
He loved God, his country, his family, and many friends. He was an avid farmer, hunter, and fisherman. When it came to sports, he loved watching football and could be seen on Friday nights in the Weir High School stadium watching his two oldest sons and several of his grandsons play football. Regarding professional football, he claimed the Pittsburg Steelers and their greatest quarterback, Terry Bradshaw, as his favorite NFL team. He could be heard fussing at or cheering them on Sunday afternoons. Then, later on in life, after he retired from working, he could be found sitting back in his recliner and watching some of his favorite westerns (Gunsmoke & Bonanza) and TV shows (In The Heat of The Night & Wheel of Fortune).
Maxie always enjoyed attending memorials and reunions at various churches, but not until well into his 80s did he take the most important step of his life: turning his life over to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He most recently took another step toward obedience to God, and on October 16, 2024, he was baptized at his home in the presence of God and his family.
