Nancy Dell Edwards was born January 28, 1942 near Chester, MS to Sherman Edwards and Irene McAdams. Her younger brother was Harry Edwards.
Nancy attended elementary school at Chester, then high school first at Weir then later at Ackerman. She graduated from Ackerman High School, attended Wood Junior College, and finished her formal education at Mississippi State University after earning her bachelor's, master's, specialist, and doctorate degrees. She married Jimmy Hugh Henderson and was wedded to him until his death almost 59 years later. They had one son, Jimmy Dale Henderson.
She began her teaching career at Wicks' Elementary in Maben. She taught one year at Threadgill Elementary in Greenwood, then returned to Maben. After her 15 years teaching in the classroom, she took on the role of school principal for ten more years before retiring from the education field.
In addition to her career in teaching, Nancy helped her husband in his many business ventures including a restaurant, a convenience store, discount store, and a mini storage business in Eupora.
She had many interests including oil painting, piano, flower gardening, and writing. She had several submissions published in the Oxford So-In-So and other regional publications. She was an avid reader and traveler. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She died at 6:20 pm. Friday July 22 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Kosciusko. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Hugh Henderson; her mother, Irene McAdams, and her father, Sherman Edwards; and her brother, Harry Edwards.
She is survived by her son, Jimmy Dale Henderson; two grandsons, Matthew Henderson, and Connor Hutson; a sister-in-law, Linda Edwards; one niece, Laurie Edwards; and two nephews, Dennis and Bruce Edwards
