Nancy V. Raines passed away on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at home surrounded by her loving family. Nancy was born on October 29, 1946, to Virge T. Kelly and Clara (Williamson) Kelly. She was 79 years old and a Retired Nurse.
Nancy lived a life defined by her deep, unwavering faith and dedication to Crossroads Baptist Church. She was an advocate for all her patients she came in contact with, as well as her coworkers. Nancy served many years as an LPN. Throughout those years, she used her servant heart to care for her late husband, Gaylon Raines (February 3, 2025), who had become paralyzed after an accident. Her biggest blessing was being Mamaw to her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS. Visitation will be held prior to service time at Coleman Funeral Home from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery near Mathiston, MS.
Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Gaylon M. Raines, Sr.; her parents, Virge T. Kelly and Clara (Williamson) Jennings; and 7 siblings: twin brothers, Randy Bell and Tandy Bell, her sister, Marie Johnson, and her 4 brothers, V.T. Kelly, Jr., L.C. Kelly, Billy Howard Kelly, and K.C. Kelly.
Nancy is survived by her son, Gaylon M. Raines, Jr. (Martha), of Ackerman, MS, and her 2 sisters, Katie Mann of Maben, MS, and Jeffie Box of Mathiston, MS. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Don Johnson (Erin), Coty Burton (Brittany), Colton Raines, Kinley Miller (Logan), Dorothy Bush (Canden), Jessie Dempsey, and Jack Dempsey; and 5 great-grandchildren, Sallie Johnson, Seanix Bush, Laney Burton, Vela Burton, and Blakeley Burton.
Memorials may be made to the Crossroads Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
