Rebecca Childress McDaniel

Rebecca Childress McDaniel, age 75, passed away at her home on June 17, 2025. Becky (BB) was born December 3, 1949, to the late Douglas “Jack” Childress and Margaret Lamb.

Becky moved to Stewart, MS as a child and was raised by her grandparents, Alvin & Lillie Clark. She graduated from Weir, MS, in 1967, married Nickey Joe McDaniel, and resided in Weir, MS. Becky worked and served her community of Weir and Choctaw County, from Crowder’s Drug Store and Chancery Clerk to bank manager of M&F Bank in Weir.

She lovingly got her nickname, BB, from her grandson, Austin. She was known from then on as BB and opened BB’s Country Store right over the Choctaw/Attala County line in McCool, MS. BB loved to cook and did so at her country store for anyone in need. She was the life of the party and enjoyed hosting get-togethers with family and friends. She loved her family and friends fiercely.

She is preceded in death by the father of her children, Nickey Joe McDaniel; her grandparents, Alvin & Lillie Clark; her parents, Douglas “Jack” Childress and Margaret Lamb; her sister, Cathy Tindoll; her brother, Michael Childress; and her nephew, Ricky Vaughn.

She is survived by her son, Todd McDaniel (Melissa) of Weir, MS; her daughter, Leigh Ann Davis (Mallory) of Hixson, TN; her partner, Jeff Kyle of McCool, MS; her 6 grandchildren, Austin McDaniel (Emily), Kalee McDaniel, & McKenzie, Brett, Nicole, and Kara Davis; and her aunts, Peggy Holmes (David) of Indianola, MS, and Lorette Clark of Greenville, MS. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 20, 2025, at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Coleman Funeral Home, with Bro. Mark Mayo officiating. Graveside services will follow at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery in Weir, MS. Pallbearers will be Austin McDaniel, Brett Davis, Donnie Clark, Wesley Holmes, Thad Childress, and Timmy Bryan. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Tombo Callahan, Son Vowell, Stacy Childress, Jeffrey Kyle, and Kaylen Hester.

Memorials may be made to the Mt. Moriah Cemetery Fund.
