Robert Wayne Prewitt, Sr. of Gulf Breeze, FL, formerly of Ackerman, MS, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2026, at his residence. Robert was born on July 16, 1944, in Crystal Springs, MS, to Earnest and Ann (McCarty) Prewitt. Hewas 81 years old. Robert was a retired Federal Accountant/Auditor. He was a Methodist and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

Robert graduated from Mississippi State University with honors and received a BS degree in Accountancy. He graduated from Golden Gate University summa cum laude with an MBA in Management. He was a Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM), a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), and a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).

Funeral services will be held at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS, on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jerry Lawson officiating. Burial will follow at Enon Cemetery in Ackerman, MS. Visitation will be held prior to service time from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS. Pallbearers for the service will be Johnny Prewitt, Michael Prewitt, Tim Prewitt, Dane Lineberry, Matt Lineberry and David Mayo. 

Robert is survived by his sons, Robert Wayne Prewitt, Jr. of DeFuniak Springs, FL, and John Wasson Thompson (Sherri) of Columbus, MS; his daughter, Angela Prewitt Herold (Greg) of Colorado Springs, CO; and his brother, Larry Prewitt (Rita) of Ackerman, MS. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren: Thomas Lee Prewitt of the U.S. Army, who’s stationed in Hawaii; Emilie Josephine Prewitt Votos (Jacob) of Baker, FL; and William Wasson Thompson, Mary Kate Thompson, and Madison Emory Thompson, all of Columbus, MS; and his 4 great-grandchildren: Sadie Louise Votos, Koda Jayce Votos, Marlee Rae Votos, and Kelsea Nicole Votos, all of Baker, FL. . Also, nieces Amanda Prewitt Mayo (David)of Ackerman, MS and Tamara Prewitt Lineberry (Matt) of Linden, TN.

Robert was preceded in death by his wife of more than 44 years, Diane DeMoville Prewitt, one son, William Cyrus Thompson III, and his parents, Earnest and Ann (McCarty) Prewitt.
