Mr. Robert Thomas (R.T.) McKnight, 90, a retired grocery store owner of Marks, MS and cattle farmer of Weir, MS, passed away on Thursday April 9, 2015 at his residence near Weir, MS . Mr. McKnight was born August 1, 1924 in Choctaw County to Robert Jefferson McKnight and Fannie Sue King McKnight. He was a retired veteran of the United States Navy and Mississippi National Guard, having served in World War II. Mr. McKnight attended Weir Baptist Church in Weir, MS where he was a member and deacon.
Funeral Services for Mr. McKnight will be held on Saturday April 11, 2015 at 10AM at Weir Baptist Church in Weir, with Brothers Jim Pender and Jared Busby officiating. Interment will follow in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Clarksdale, MS at 3 PM on Saturday April 11, 2015. Visitation will be held Friday April 10, 2015 from 6PM until 8PM at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS. Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman, MS is in charge of all arrangements.
Mr. McKnight was preceded in death by his son, Maury McKnight, a brother, Jack McKnight, sisters, Dezree McKnight Coleman and Elloise McKnight Waley McCurdy. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Marshall McKnight of Weir, MS, a son, Dr. Tom McKnight of Spokane, WA, two daughters, Marion (Sissy) McKnight Cooper of Lake Wylie, SC, and Mandy McKnight Hawkins of Thorn Hill, TN, and a brother C. Wayne McKnight of Clarksdale, MS. He is also survived by four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
