Roger N. Dishroon

Roger Nathan Dishroon, 88, was born on September 3, 1937, in Palmer, TN, to Ernest and Hazel Dishroon. He went to Grundy County High School before proudly serving his country in the United States Marine Corps for four years, attaining the rank of corporal. During his military service, he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan, and the Philippines.

On May 25, 1974, Roger married the love of his life, Linda Stephenson, beginning a devoted marriage that spanned more than five decades. A man of strong faith, unwavering integrity, and a servant’s heart, Roger dedicated his life to his family, his church, and his community.

Throughout his career, Roger worked for the Town of Ackerman, served as a volunteer firefighter, and spent many years in retail management before retiring as manager of the Little Mountain Service Center on the Natchez Trace Parkway. He also served on the Choctaw County School Board for eight years. He was known for his strong work ethic, kindness, and willingness to help others.

Roger’s greatest joy was serving the Lord through music. He loved singing Southern Gospel music and faithfully served as music directors of Clear Springs Baptist Church and the Choctaw County Baptist Association for more than 20 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Hazel Dishroon; his brothers, Benny Dishroon and Ernest “E.J.” Dishroon, Jr.; his sisters, Betty Whitlow and Alpha Cleek; and his grandson, Seth Burton.

Roger is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Linda Stephenson Dishroon; his daughters, Stephanie Dolan and Misty Goering (Kirk); his grandsons, Ethan Burton, Noah Burton, Christian Goering, and Zachary Goering; his granddaughter, Jesse Burton; his brother, Preston Dishroon; his sister, Sylvia Roberts; and numerous nephews, nieces, and extended family members.

Services will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS. Visitation with family and friends will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 p.m. A military graveside service will immediately follow at Providence Baptist Church Cemetery in Ackerman.

Roger’s quiet faith, gentle spirit, and steadfast love for his family will remain his enduring legacy. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all whose lives he touched.
