Roy H. Smith

Roy H. Smith, of Sturgis, MS, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at his residence in Sturgis, MS. Mr. Smith was born on July 25, 1934, in Meridian, MS. He was 89 years old and was a retired Postmaster for Columbus, MS postal service.

Mr. Smith was an avid MSU sports fan. He also loved his church, was actively involved, and served as a long-time deacon for Morgan Chapel Baptist Church.

 Graveside services and burial will be held at Morgan Chapel Cemetery in Sturgis, MS, on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Brandon Powell officiating. Coleman Funeral Home of Ackerman is in charge of all arrangements.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Susan (Kozisek) Smith of Sturgis; 2 daughters, Kate (Tim) Murphy of Alpharetta, GA, and Deborah (Gary) Phillips of Kansas; 2 sons, Paul Hunter of Martinsburg, West Virginia, and Daryl (Sherri) Smith of Clinton, MS; 2 brothers,  Howard (Sue) Mosley of Meridian, MS and Charles (Gail) Mosley of Meridian, MS; 7 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 sister, Carol Bateman.
