Sgt. Cody Brandon Sons, of Morgan City, LA and Ackerman, MS, sadly departed this world for his heavenly destination on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at his residence in Junction City, KS. He was 29 years old. Cody attended Ackerman High School in Ackerman, MS; however, he graduated from Berwick High School in Berwick, LA in May 2015. He enlisted into the US Army January of 2017. He was an Aviation Pneudraulics Mechanic at Fort Bragg, NC, and then switched over to Field Artillery at Fort Riley, KS.
Cody was blessed with a large blended family. He was born February 6, 1995 to Brian Joseph Sons (Jennifer Dempsey) and Shelia Dozar Kimbro (Michael Copeland). He’s also survived by his stepfather, Robert W. Kimbro; three brothers, Gavin (Ashley) Dozar, Robert E. Kimbro, and Gabriel Kimbro; four sisters, Kayla Mason, Angel Mason, Laryssa Kimbro (Jacob), and Hayden-Lee Sons; two step-siblings, Brady Dempsey and Tawny Gunter; a nephew, Ash Pelas; and his grandparents, Richard (Paulette) Lightsey and Terry Sons. Cody also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, numerous cousins, adopted family, his Military Brothers/Sisters, and his beloved dog, Scooga.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sandra Barrilleaux, and his uncle, Richard Lightsey III.
Celebration of life will be held at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS, on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. with Military Honors. Visitation will be held prior to service time starting at 11:00 a.m.
