Smokey Dale Miles, 60, a retired road foreman for Choctaw County Beat 3, died at his residence outside of Ackerman on Monday, June 24, 2024. He retired with some 24 years of service with Choctaw County.
Mr. Miles was born April 1, 1964. He was a native and lifelong resident of Choctaw County who served in the National Guard for six years.
Survivors include his wife of 37 years Lynelle Miles of Ackerman; one brother-in-law, Ashley Odom and wife Sylvia of Ackerman; two brothers, Jim Miles of Yazoo City and Tony Miles of Pontotoc; sister Gail Lindsey of Savannah, Tenn.; seven nephews, Cole Odom and Masyn Odom, both of Ackerman; Clint Lindsey of Dickson, Tenn.; Quinton McLemore and Quade McLemore, both of Philadelphia, Miss.; Robert Collins of Longview; and Timothy Platt, Jr., of Levelland, Texas; and two nieces, Lacee Salley of Ackerman and Jamie Young of Poplar Grove, Ark.
His parents, James Miles and Barbara Collier, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 26, 2024, from 5-8 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman. Additional visitation will be one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at Salem Methodist Church near Ackerman. Bro. Doug Wise will officiate the service, and interment will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
