Thelma Sue Black Morgan, affectionately known to most as Ms. Sue, was born on February 12,1943 at her family home in Weir. Raised on the family farm as the middle child of Julian and Lois Black, Sue attended Weir High School where she met her future husband, Wendell Morgan.
Sue was a bank teller, a homemaker, a wonderful mom, and the love of her late husband's life. For nearly 57 years, Sue and Wendell lived all over the United States before eventually moving back "home" to Weir to raise their daughter, Staci, near family and friends. The family owned and operated the Weir County Cafe which served as the gathering place for the Weir community. As the official host of all late-night victory parties for the Weir football team, the coffee spot for Weir's who's who to solve the world's problems, or for the fried catfish buffet on any given weekend, Sue could be found beside Wendell as his faithful coleslaw maker and partner. Sue was a member of Mt. Zion Church in Panhandle and later Weir Presbyterian Church.
Predeceased in death, is her husband, Wendell Morgan; parents, Julian and Lois Black; and siblings, Julia Black Weeks and Harvey Hunt Black. Sue is survived by her daughter, Staci Morgan Gunderson, (Ryan Gunderson) of Arlington, Virginia; sister-in-law, Katherine Black of Weir, as well as nieces and nephews, Patrick Black of Jackson, Mary Katherine Black Snead of Madison, Debbie Weeks Kimbrough of Madison , Becky Weeks King of Philadelphia, Tony Weeks of Pearl, Vicky Oller of Monticello, and Gary Morgan of Quitman.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Beulah Cemetery Fund (1410 Weir-McCool Road, McCool, MS 39108) or Mt. Zion Church.
