Thomas Jackson Bowman

Jun 8, 1938 — Aug 28, 2026

Ackerman, MS

Thomas Jackson “Jack” Bowman, 88, of Ackerman, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2026, at Choctaw Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.

Jack was born June 8, 1938, to Thomas (T.D.) and Helen (Yeager) Bowman. He was the eldest of six children, including his identical twin brother, Billy.

On May 10, 1961, Jack married the love of his life, Etoyle Brooks. Together, they shared 65 years of marriage and built a life rooted in faith, family, hard work, and devotion to one another.

For more than 42 years, Jack worked as a pipe-fitter/welder, spending 30 of those years as a proud member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 671 in Monroe, Michigan. He was also a Master Mason with the Grand Lodge of Louisiana F. & A.M. in Alexandria, Louisiana, where he served in various positions.

Jack was a devoted Christian and faithful member of Ackerman Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, usher, and Sunday School teacher. He loved the Lord and enjoyed witnessing to others about God, sharing the faith that guided him throughout his life.

A graduate of Ackerman High School’s Class of 1958, Jack played football and later attended Holmes Junior College in Goodman, Mississippi. He was truly a jack-of-all-trades and enjoyed sports, tinkering, hunting, golfing, and flying as a private pilot.

Very early in life, Jack learned the perseverance that would characterize the man he became. At just eight years old, he was diagnosed with polio and had to relearn how to walk. He carried that determination throughout his life, never allowing hardship to determine what he could accomplish.

Above all, Jack loved his family and leaves behind a legacy of faith, perseverance, and devotion to those he loved.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, T.D. and Helen Bowman; his identical twin brother, Billy; and his siblings, Jeanette, Glen, and Don.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Etoyle; his brother, George (Carolyn) Bowman; his half brother , Bob Bowman of Ackerman, Mississippi; his daughter, Niecy (Wayne) Shanks of Columbus, Mississippi; his son, Tom Bowman of Ackerman, Mississippi; grandchildren, Trey (Lara) Bowman of Gulfport, Mississippi, Morgan (Colby) Bridges of Ackerman, Mississippi, and Victoria (Brandon) Wells of Tupelo, Mississippi; and seven great-grandchildren, Bo, Walker, Wren, Stormi, Seth, Luke, and Gage. Seven sister-in-laws, one brother-in-law, several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until noon at Ackerman Baptist Church in Ackerman, Mississippi, with the funeral service to follow. Burial will be at Enon Cemetery.
