Thomas Edward Crowe Sr., 61, of Ackerman, Mississippi, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Born March 13, 1964, in Flint, Michigan, Thomas lived a life defined by devotion to family, loyalty to friends, and a personality no one could quite forget.
Thomas was a skilled brick mason by trade, but most people simply knew him as “Coach.” Whether on the field or off, he had a way of guiding, teaching, and pushing people to be better. He was quiet… until he wasn’t. Then you knew it. Quick-witted, funny, and always ready for a good time, he had a presence that filled the room without trying too hard.
He loved music, fishing, coaching, and his dogs—but nothing came before his family. He was a devoted husband to Leanne Crowe, a proud father to Thomas Crowe Jr., wife Jenny, and Chace Crowe, wife Brittany, and an especially proud grandfather to Mary Crowe and Dillon Crowe. Being “Papaw” suited him well.
He is survived by his father, Ray Wenford Crowe; his wife, Leanne; his children and grandchildren; and his siblings Randy Crowe, Beverly Wilhite, William Ray Crowe, and Steve Crowe. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Joe Banks, and siblings Vicky Jernigan, Johnny Crowe, and Hope Talbot.
Thomas was known by many as “The Legend.” He was a caring friend, a flawed but honest man (he’d be the first to say, “I’m flawed.”), and someone who loved deeply—even if he didn’t always say it out loud. Family was number one, always.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 11:15 a.m. at his home in Ackerman, Mississippi. In true Thomas fashion, multiple balloon releases will take place across Texas, Florida, Tennessee, and Mississippi and many more as friends and family honor his memory together. He will be cremated.
Flowers may be sent to:
6630 MS-415, Ackerman, MS 39735
Thomas leaves behind stories, laughter, and a legacy of love that will carry on in every life he touched. And somewhere, we imagine, he’s still coaching.
