Thomas Harold “PawPaw” Raybourn, of Ackerman, MS, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at his residence in Ackerman, MS. Thomas was born on October 26, 1942, in Marion County, MS, to Rev. Luke Matthew and Gladys Edell (Broome) Raybourn. He was 83 years old. Thomas was retired law enforcement and a member of Providence Baptist Church in Ackerman, MS.
Thomas was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. Thomas was honorably discharged on February 26, 1969. His highest rank held was Specialist 4thClass with a Marksman decoration.
Thomas was a Sheriff’s Deputy for the Choctaw County Sheriff’s Department for 15 years. He served Choctaw County as Constable for 12 years.
Funeral services will be held at Coleman Funeral Home, in Ackerman, MS, on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 10:00AM, with Bro. Brad Latham officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Coleman Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Salem Independent Methodist Cemetery near Ackerman, MS.
Thomas is survived by his sons, Anthony Raybourn (Angel) of Ackerman, MS, and Steven Raybourn of Columbia, MS; one daughter, Sherry Hitt (Huey) of Columbia, MS; his brothers, Robert Raybourn (Pam) of Gulfport, MS, and Glenn Raybourn (Shirley) of Columbia, MS; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sherry (Ready) Raybourn; his sons, Jerry Raybourn, Martin Raybourn, and Kevin Raybourn; one daughter, Beverly Raybourn; his parents, Rev. Luke Matthew and Gladys Edell (Broome) Raybourn; and his sister, Mayford Raybourn.
