On the morning of Friday, September 20, 2024, Wanda Kay Wells passed away peacefully at the age of 69 in her home. Wanda was born on March 23, 1955 in Tunica, MS to (the late) Bo Keeton and Ruby Keeton.
She married her husband, Phillip Wells on December 20, 1974. They have had a long blessed beautiful marriage of almost 50 years.
Wanda was a retired school bus driver for Choctaw CountySchool District for 30 years, Paps Place for 30 plus years, and a line inspector at the old Ackerman Shirt Factory for many years prior.
Wanda was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend to many. Wanda loved her church family like they were her own. A long time member to the Ackerman Church of God, she was a devout Christian and spent her life raising her family to know the Lord. Wanda spent many years of her life working with the youth of the church. She loved to cook and treasured so many dear friends that were more like family in the restaurant business. She loved to shop and sew and make dresses for herself or anyone that needed a dress. She loved her husband, boys, and grandchildren fiercely.
She is survived by her husband, Phillip Wells, and 2 sons, Brian Wells (Beth) of Ackerman, and Jonathon Wells of Ackerman. She has 6 grandchildren, Landon Wells (Sierra), Riley Claire Wells, Elijah Wells, JJ Wells, Kayla Brooke Wells, and Vaeh Lee. Her brothers and sisters, Johnny Keeton (Teresa) of Ackerman, MS; brother Bo Bo Keeton (Charlotte) of Louin, MS; Judy Dennis of Phenix City, AL; Katherine Stewart of Louin, MS and a host of nieces and nephews.
Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, her mother Ruby Lee Manus Keeton, her father Bo Keeton, wife Thelma Keeton (step-mother); and her brother, Billy Joe Keeton.
Funeral services will be held at Ackerman Church of God in Ackerman, MS on Monday, September 23, 2024 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Greg Chamblee and Rev. Kelvin Copeland officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Independent Methodist Cemetery near Ackerman, MS. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM. There will also be a visitation prior to service time from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Ackerman Church of Godin Ackerman, MS. Serving as Pallbearers will be Matthew Salley, Kevin Salley, Shawn Keeton, Harold Dennis, Clinton Keeton, Chris Keeton, Greg Keeton, and Charles Edwards. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Cherrie Salley, Geraldine Jackson, Lori Ann Kerr and Betty Hood.
