Doug Martin

William Douglas Martin, of Ackerman, MS, passed awayWednesday, July 15, 2026, at his home in Ackerman, MSfollowing a courageous battle with bladder cancer over the past year. Doug was born July 19, 1956, in Jackson, MS, to Roy Martin and Jacqueline Woods Ratcliffe. He was 69years old. Doug was a well-known and highly respected Master Electrician, working for over 40 years in the Golden Triangle area.

Doug was happiest with a cold beer in hand while standing over the grill or tending to his tomato and pepper plants. Although he wasn’t a man of many words, he deeply valued the relationships he built throughout his life. Doug will be remembered for his willingness to always lend a helping hand. His actions spoke far louder than his words ever could.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 20, 2026, 12:00 PM, at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman, MS, with Bro. Leon Bruce officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at Enon Cemetery in Ackerman, MS.

Doug is survived by his son, Kane Martin (Valerie) of Covington, GA; his daughter, Tara LaSuzzo (Jordan) of Monroe, LA; sisters, Vicki Carroll of Remlap, AL, and Melanie Ables (Harry) of Madison, MS; and 4 grandchildren, Helaina Martin, Ian Martin, Steel LaSuzzo, and Teagan LaSuzzo, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Doug was preceded in death by his wife, Debra (Turner) Martin; his parents, Roy Martin and Jacqueline Woods Ratcliffe; and one brother, John Martin.
